Getting started

What does PottyPro do?

PottyPro times the gap between potty trips, reminds you when it’s time to try, and keeps a log of what happened. On top of that loop it tracks drinks, asks each morning whether the night was dry, lets you share a child’s log with a co-parent or send a daily summary to nursery, and points out patterns in your own logs in plain language.

Which devices does PottyPro work on?

iPhone with iOS 26 or later. There’s also an Apple Watch app for watchOS 26 or later, which comes with the iPhone app.

Do I need to create an account?

No. There’s no sign-up and no login. If you’re signed in to iCloud on your iPhone, PottyPro uses that to keep your data backed up and in sync — we never see it.

Is there a readiness checklist?

Yes, under Settings › Readiness check. It’s a short list of common signs a child may be ready — noticing a wet nappy, staying dry for a couple of hours, following simple instructions and so on. It’s a guide rather than a rule, and it never stops you starting the timer.

The timer and reminders

How do I choose the gap between prompts?

In Settings › Reminders, set anything from 30 minutes to 4 hours, in 15-minute steps. Each child has their own setting. If a timer is already running, it restarts on the new gap straight away.

Why doesn’t “Try now” restart the countdown?

“Try now” is for an extra, off-schedule try. If it restarted the countdown, every extra try would push the next prompt further away and the gap would quietly get longer than you set. Logging a wee or poo does restart it, because that’s when your child has actually just been.

What are quiet hours?

The hours when no prompt should sound — usually bedtime to morning. If the countdown runs out during quiet hours, the screen says so and the reminder waits until quiet hours end, rather than waking the house.

I’m not getting reminders. What should I check?
  • Notifications are allowed for PottyPro in Settings › Notifications › PottyPro on your iPhone.
  • A Focus mode (such as Sleep or Do Not Disturb) isn’t silencing PottyPro.
  • The countdown is running for that child — the Timer tab shows it.
  • It isn’t currently quiet hours for that child.
  • You’re looking at the right child, if you have more than one.

If all of that looks right and reminders still don’t arrive, email us and we’ll help.

The app suggested a shorter gap. How does it decide?

If your logs show accidents happening after a prompt was already due, PottyPro suggests a shorter gap and shows you the counts it’s working from. It waits until there are at least 20 toileting entries across 5 days before saying anything, never suggests less than 45 minutes (2 hours with the sensory-friendly preset), and you can dismiss it. It describes what you logged — it isn’t a prediction.

How do the widget and Live Activity work?

Add the PottyPro widget to your Home Screen to see the countdown without opening the app: touch and hold the Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget and choose PottyPro. While a timer is running you’ll also see it on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. If Live Activities are turned off for PottyPro in Settings, the timer and reminders still work as normal.

What can I do on Apple Watch?

The watch app does two things: it shows the countdown to the next prompt, and it logs a try in one tap — wee or poo in the potty, the toilet or an accident, held on, dry checks, and dry or wet nights. If they sat and nothing happened, tap Nothing this time and the prompt comes back in 15 minutes. A complication puts the countdown on your watch face.

Drinks, history and settings stay on your iPhone. The watch syncs through your own iCloud, so it keeps working when your phone is in another room, and prompts come from your iPhone, so they never arrive twice. Open PottyPro on your iPhone and add a child first — the watch fills in on its own. It’s included with PottyPro; there’s nothing extra to buy.

Logging

What can I log?

Wee and poo — each in the potty, in the toilet or as an accident. Held on for holding in or straining without going. Dry checks during the day. Dry and wet nights. And drinks. Logging a wee, poo, held on or dry check restarts the countdown; drinks and overnight answers don’t.

What does “Held on” mean, and why log it?

It’s for when your child is holding a poo in or straining without going. It’s worth recording because a pattern of it is something to mention to your GP or health visitor.

Why doesn’t a wet night count as an accident?

Because it isn’t one. Staying dry at night comes when a child’s body is ready — it can’t be trained — and over 20% of five-year-olds still wet the bed. Wet and dry nights are recorded separately and don’t affect your daytime figures.

Why is there confetti for drinks but not for dry nights?

PottyPro celebrates things your child can actually control: a wee or poo in the potty or toilet, and reaching the day’s drinks target. A dry night isn’t in a child’s control, so it’s noted quietly for you instead of being turned into a prize. That follows NICE guidance, and it means a wet night never feels like a failure.

How does the drinks target work?

Tap Drink each time your child has a drink, and PottyPro counts it against a daily target you set in Settings › Drinks (4 to 8). ERIC suggests 6 to 8 drinks a day. Drinking enough is what trains a bladder to hold on, and cutting drinks back to avoid accidents tends to make things worse.

What is the morning dry-night check?

Once each morning, at the end of quiet hours, PottyPro asks whether the night was dry. You can answer Dry or Wet straight from the notification without opening the app. Turn it on or off per child in Settings › Overnight.

Accidents have started again after it was going well. What does the app do?

If accidents pick up after a settled stretch, the Timer tab shows a short list of things worth checking first — how much your child is drinking, whether they’re sitting properly, anything new at home or nursery — before assuming you’re back to square one. If wetting comes back at night after six months or more of dry nights, PottyPro will say so and suggest talking to your GP or health visitor.

Family, nursery and more than one child

How do I share a child with a co-parent?

In Settings › Co-parent sharing, tap Invite co-parent and send the invite. The other person needs their own Apple Account and PottyPro on their iPhone. Once they accept, they see that child’s log and countdown live and can log too. You need to be signed in to iCloud to share. You can stop sharing at any time from the same place.

How do I keep nursery or a childminder updated?

Open Share with carer. You’ll see today’s entries and a note field for anything you want them to know — “please keep offering every hour”, say. Tap Share today’s summary to send it as plain text by message, email or any app you like. They don’t need to install anything. The note is saved with your child, so it’s there tomorrow and a co-parent sees it too.

Can I track more than one child?

Yes. Each child has their own timer, quiet hours, drinks target and history. Tap your child’s name at the top of the Timer tab to switch, and add children in Settings › Manage children.

How do I rename or delete a child?

In Settings › Manage children, swipe left on a child to rename or delete them. Deleting a child permanently removes all of their history and can’t be undone. For a child someone else shared with you, the option is Leave instead — you lose access, but nothing is deleted for them.

What is away-from-home mode?

A toggle for outings, in Settings › Presets. Entries logged while it’s on are marked as away from home, so a pull-up on a long car journey doesn’t read as a step backwards.

What does the sensory-friendly preset do?

It keeps at least 2 hours between prompts, so the day is less relentless. That’s all it changes. Turning it off leaves your gap where it is, so shorten it again in Reminders if you want to.

Free trial and subscription

How much does PottyPro cost?

You can use every feature free for 3 days, and you don’t need to enter payment details to start. After that, PottyPro is a monthly subscription. The price is set by the App Store for your country and shown in the app before you pay.

What happens when the free trial ends?

PottyPro asks you to subscribe to carry on. Your logs are safe — everything you’ve recorded stays on your device and comes straight back when you subscribe.

If I subscribe during the free trial, when am I charged?

Straight away. Subscribing starts your paid monthly subscription that day, so if you want every free day, wait until the trial is nearly over.

How do I cancel?

On your iPhone, go to Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions, choose PottyPro and tap Cancel Subscription. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and you keep access until the period you’ve paid for ends. Refunds are handled by Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com.

I’ve got a new iPhone or reinstalled the app. How do I get my subscription back?

Make sure you’re signed in with the same Apple Account you subscribed with, then tap Restore purchase on the subscription screen.

Privacy and safety

Where is my data stored?

On your iPhone, and — if you’re signed in to iCloud — in your own private iCloud, so it syncs and survives a new phone. It never goes to our servers. There’s no advertising, no analytics and no third-party tracking. See the PottyPro privacy notice for the detail.

Is PottyPro medical advice?

No. PottyPro records what you tell it and offers general prompts based on published guidance. It can’t diagnose anything. If you’re worried — constipation, pain, blood, wetting returning after months dry, or training that isn’t going anywhere — speak to your GP, health visitor or pediatrician.

Still stuck?

Tell us what’s happening, which iPhone and iOS version you’re using, and a screenshot if you can. Please don’t include your child’s full name or log details unless they help.
